Hope;

Hope is this Thing with feathers;

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.

I've heard it in the chilliest land
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.
Emily Dickinson 1830-1886

Hope means hoping when everything seems hopeless. Gilbert Keith Chesterton

Hope is like a new leaf;

Hope is a waking dream.
- Aristotle

Hope is a pink flower;

Hope ever tells us tomorrow will be better.
- Tibullus

Hope is like a sunrise;

Hope is a belief in a positive outcome related to events and circumstances in one's life. Hope is the feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best.

Hope is like a mist in time;

Hope was personified in Greek mythology as Elpis. When Pandora opened Pandora's Box, she let out all the evils except one: hope. Apparently, the Greeks considered hope to be as dangerous as all the world's evils. But without hope to accompany all their troubles, humanity was filled with despair. It was a great relief when Pandora revisited her box and let out hope as well

  1. I had no idea that hope was in Pandora's box. I think that hope is dangerous, but necessary.

  3. I always liked ED's poems. Hope is such a huge word, and should always be. That's why we always look up to tomorrow and things to come with the HOPE that it would be the one/thing/event we're waiting for. Very nice photos too.

  6. I enjoyed this lovely post indeed. I believe that there is hope in everything and that hope dies last. Your photos are wonderful. I like them all; your gorgeous roses and a lovely pink flower, the glistening light on the leaf and warm colors of sunrise….and also the header is outstanding.

You made my day, liebe Trudi!
    Es ganz es liebs Grüessli,
