Poor, dismissed dogs! you are a pain...

Our Billy loved and cherished. Billy is now two years old; he joined us when he was a tiny pup, eight weeks old. He has learned our ways; and we have learned his ways!

I came upon this post randomly. The story was about children and their wee ways of talking and picking up words from adults.
The lady asked one small girl "have you still got your Jack Russel"? No, said the small person, he was a pain in the a...! No I do not think this is funny; it is rather ugly coming out of the mouth of a small child.
I feel sorry for every dog who has the misfortune to end up with a family who is a pain in the a...!
I do not like people who do not teach their children to have compassion towards animals.
Why do people have a dog in the first place? To satisfy the whims of their spoiled, stupid children? Once the craze of the puppy stage is gone and the dog is not behaving because the pain in the a..family has no clue how to train a dog, the poor dog is dismissed, sold or whatever. If he is lucky he will end up with a loving family who understands him and give him some training to fit into family life. Dogs are part of the family they are not just pets! A dog in a family is a friend for life!

  1. Titania, you are so right. A lot of people are cavalier about getting pets. It is a commitment. It takes work, but there are benefits to having them in your life. They really enrich us. I get so sad when I see dogs tied up in yards and ignored. They are pack animals and need to be with their pack. WE are their pack.

  3. I agree and well said, there are people in this world who should not even have children let alone animals. If parents can't teach their children patience and compassion then they certainly have no right to take care of an animal. A great post Titania, we all need to hear it. 4. Beautiful Billy, by the way, forgot to add that. Tend to get too passionate on these subjects and press the button a little too fast ;)

  6. I am surprised by how many people get a dog without realizing what a committment it is. We had a Jack Russell who lived to be 20 years old, and I don't know how many people could have lived with her. She was 1) very high energy and 2) hated to be left alone. Very high maintenance. But even dogs that are not "high maintenance" need a lot of time, attention, and exercise.

  7. I wanted to add, I like Billy's eyes. Our Molly had the same dark outline around her eyes (though not as pronounced), and a white fuzzy muzzle.
