My World Tuesday; Roots;

In September, the cows who have spent all summer long up on the alps are coming down to the village into their winter quarters. It is like a folks festival . There are stalls where people can try the different cheeses made on the alps. A competition is held to determine on which alp the best cheese has been produced. There are many different cheeses to try and to judge. Unfortunately the weather gods did not play along with a blue sky and kept he mountains shrouded in gray.

  4. Sounds likes a fun festival. (And I don't think the weather gods are cooperating anywhere this year!)

  6. It didn't.
    Well I was saying it's a lovely tradition and video from your native land. The cows look so cute with those wonderful flower arrangements and I loved how important those kiddos appeared walking down the street with their walking sticks.
    Decorating their animals is not something I recon finnish farmers would ever think about. The sound of the cowbells is so pretty too.

  8. How neat! I really enjoyed this video from across the world. I love how they decorate the cows with flowers. I wish I could judge the cheese contest. I love cheese. I've never seen such huge cow bells. They sound a little like church bells on the video. Great post!
